Chair of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry
The Chair of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry was formed in 2013, based on the Chairs of Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, which were established in 1923. The head of the Chair of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry was an outstanding scientist, distinguished professor L. Rotinyan. Later, the Chair was headed by Professors Gh. Ter-Ghazaryan, D. Marukhyan, T. Ghazanchyan, M. Darbinyan, H. Babayan, S. Avagyan, S. Grigoryan, R. Harutyunyan. Later V. Tarayan, Professors M. Darbinyan, Zh. Hovsepyan and H. Khachatryan headed the Chair of Analytical Chemistry, which was separated in 1938.
The Chair has been engaged in many scientific research, technological, and production activities, registering many achievements.
Activities are carried out in a number of areas:
Synthesis of inorganic compounds,
Study of low-temperature chemical transfer reactions,
High-temperature self-propagating synthesis,
Study of classic mining technologies.
Currently, works are being carried out in the Chair in a number of basic and modern scientific research, scientific-technological, and applied directions, such as:
Study of antioxidant substances and antiradical activity,
Synthesis and research of catalytically and biologically active complex compounds,
Development and application of modern technologies in the mineral industry,
Development and application of modern methods of analysis,
Synthesis and study of new hybrid mineral polymer adsorbents for high-performance liquid chromatography and sample preparation,
Transformation and application of natural absorbents,
Analysis and application of biologically active compounds in cosmetic care products and food,
Development and application study, improvement of technologies and compositions of household chemistry and maintenance products,
Analysis of food and alcoholic beverages, study of production technologies, and improvement.
Leading specialists work in the Chair, who undergo regular training, are involved in international and local grant programs, and are authors of educational manuals, monographs, school textbooks, and scientific articles, most of which are published in periodicals with a high impact factor.
There are a number of grant programs in the Chair, thanks to which scientific technological, and applied directions are developed, and the technical base is replenished and equipped with modern and international standard apparatus. The Chair has the following equipment:
Waters 600S HPLC with "Waters 486" UV detector,
KNAUER "Asura HPLS with variable multi-wavelength UV/Vis detector" (Agilent technology),
UV-Visible Spectrophotometer T60,
Spectrophotometer "SPECTRO UV-18PC",
M550 Double Beam Scanning UV/Visible Spectrophotometer,
Gemini VII Surface Area and Porosity, Flow Prep060-Sample Degas System (Micrometrics),
HACH Lange DR3900 spectrometer,
LECO "SC-144DR",
Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer "PG-990" & Graphite Furhace Power "Supply GF-990".
Many of the listed are unique in the region and create wide opportunities for both the Chair, the university, and the developing science in RA. They allow carrying out studies by spectrometric, chromatographic, and other methods in various scientific research, scientific and technological, and applied fields, thanks to which the interrelationships in various fields of science, labor market, and industry (mining, mineral production, ecological safety, food industry, household chemistry, cosmetics, and care products, pharmaceutical chemistry, etc.) are enhanced.
Scientific and Technological Laboratory of Applied Chemistry
In 2023, the Scientific and Technological Laboratory of Applied Chemistry, which is equipped with modern research and technological devices and techniques by international standards, began to operate in the Chair. The laboratory is engaged in the research and service of modern applied issues of chemistry and problems of various production areas.
The directions of laboratory activities include:
Development and application of compositions and technologies of cleaning, washing, disinfecting, and technical maintenance products,
Development and application of technologies of cosmetics and care products,
Development and application of silicate building materials and building chemistry compounds and technologies,
Development and application of technologies of polymer, interlacquer building materials, membrane covering materials,
Development and application of industrial waste processing technologies,
Development and application of eco-fuel compounds and technologies,
Design, planning, and modeling (consultation and organization) of production and production laboratories.
