Biophysics
Master's programme
About the program
The program consists of compulsory and optional courses. Compulsory courses are about 15, while optional ones are 5.
Admission requirements
The admission for the 2023/2024 academic year in the full-time and part-time modes of study will be carried out according to the requirements of the "YSU master's degree (full-time and part-time) admission procedure".
The entrance exam is conducted orally. The questionnaire can be found in the "Admission" section.
The aim of the program
The program aims to prepare specialists oriented to the study of biological problems related to the physical and physicochemical mechanisms of vital processes, who will be able to:
- Study the physical and physicochemical mechanisms of vital processes,
- Study the mechanisms of energy transformation in biological systems, electron-conformational interactions in biomacromolecules, regulation and self-organization of complex biological systems,
- Carry out research using modern biophysical methods,
- Analyze the obtained laboratory results,
- Generalize and coordinate the results of the performed works, using modern computing techniques and information technologies,
- Formulate the problem, participate in the development and discussion of new methodological approaches,
- Participate in seminars and conferences,
- Participate in mathematical modeling of biological systems using computer technologies,
- Perform functional-diagnostic medical examinations,
- Carry out pedagogical activities in secondary schools and higher professional institutions.
Advantages
Upon completion of the program, the graduates will:
- Master the current issues of biophysics and the main ways of their development,
- Understand the major directions and logic of biophysics and molecular biology development
- Become familiar with the problems of bioelectrogenesis and the methods of solving them,
- Recognize the problems of the influence of physical factors on living systems, the logic of their solution, and methods of implementation.
Within the scope of the professional internship, practical classes are organized, the purpose of which is to give students the necessary experience and skills to successfully write and defend their Master’s theses.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the program have the opportunity to continue their studies both at the YSU Biophysics Chair and at Postgraduate Studies of Armenian and foreign scientific research institutes and centers of the relevant field.
