On December 20, an extended session of the Academic Council was held in the discussion hall of the YSU Institute of Armenian Studies. The session was attended by Ph.D., YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, YSU Vice-Rector Rafael Barkhudaryan, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Armenian Studies Vahram Petrosyan, as well as the members of the academic council of the institute and leading and senior researchers.
The agenda of the session of the Academic Council included the institute's 2022 activity report and other urgent affairs.
At the beginning of the session, the director of the institute Vahram Petrosyan highlighted the efforts made by the former rector of YSU, founder-director of the institute Aram Simonyan in the establishment and development of the scientific unit.
During the session, Ph.D., Professor Davit Hovhannisyan, a renowned orientalist, and diplomat was unanimously elected as a chairperson of the reporting session.
At the beginning of the session, V. Petrosyan presented the institute’s activity report for 2022.
In his speech, Petrosyan presented the scientific works and achievements of the unit in detail, the current and possible cooperation expansion, and also talked about the existing issues and challenges. The director also presented the planned scientific activity of the institute for the upcoming year separately, referring to the forthcoming programs and the ways and methods to overcome the existing issues.
The participants of the session discussed the results of the work done through questions and speeches, addressing their concerns to the director of the institute, as well as presenting their proposals on further scientific activities.
As a result of the session, the members of the Academic Council expressed their support to the Director, while the annual activity report was unanimously assessed as positive.
YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan thanked the director of the institute for the effective work done by the center in a short period.
The YSU Rector presented the strategic development plan of YSU to the institute staff, as well as the programs of reforms implemented and planned by YSU in the direction of Armenian studies and his vision of the development of scientific research.
