He taught at YSU since 1943. From 1957-1959, Jrbashyan was the dean of the physics-mathematics and then the mechanics-mathematics faculty, from 1978-1994, he was the head of the function theory chair.
Since 1945, he also worked in the Academy of Sciences of the ASSR. From 1955-1971, Jrbashyan was the head of the Department of Theory of Functions of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, from 1971 to 1989 was the director, from 1966 was the editor-in-chief of the newsletter of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and the "Mathematics" journal. From 1963-1973, he was the academic secretary of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the ASSR, in 1973-1978, a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the ASSR.
Jrbashyan is the author of about 200 scientific articles, monographs, and educational manuals. His research covers a number of areas of modern complex analysis and function theory: approximation theory, harmonic analysis, integral transformations and representations of functions, factorization of meromorphic functions, and their boundary properties.
Among the important scientific works are "Integral Transformations and Representations of Functions in the complex domain" (M., 1966), "Classes and Boundary Properties of Meromorphic Functions in the Circle" (M., 1993), and "Harmonic Analysis and Boundary Value problems in the complex domain" (Switzerland, 1993).
He made a great contribution to the establishment and development of the Armenian mathematical scientific school formed in the 1940s and 50s.
In 1964, Jrbashyan became an honored figure of science of the ASSR, and was awarded the Red Banner of Labor, and the Orders of the October Revolution.
