YSU Honorary Professor Yuri Oganessian gave a lecture at the university
Yuri Oganessian, YSU honorary professor, legendary scientist, full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Russia, foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, and the academician who supplemented Mendeleev's table with six elements, delivered a lecture at YSU. It was dedicated to super-heavy nuclei and their synthesis methods.
Presenting his 65 years of work at the beginning of the lecture, Yuri Oganessian referred to the synthesis of super-heavy nuclei and then talked about the methods suggested by him that are used all over the world today.
After the lecture, Oganessian answered questions regarding the topic, as well as the curious episodes of his life.
The scientist attended the exhibition organized by the Information Center of the Dubna Joint Institute for Nuclear Research operating at YSU, where the institute's research and educational programs, as well as activities carried out by scientific groups, were presented.
It should be noted that the Information Center was opened in the framework of the tripartite cooperation agreement signed between the Dubna Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the National Scientific Laboratory named after A. I Alikhanyan.
