The irreplaceable role of pedagogy in the educational system
According to the American Merriam-Webster dictionary, pedagogy is the art of teaching. It contributes to the solution of various social, communicative, and psycho-pedagogical problems of children in the field of general education, the organization of inclusive education of children with limited abilities, the mastery of teaching principles, innovative methods, modern educational technologies, and means, as well as the ability to effectively manage education.
The "handbook" of the above-mentioned skills and professional abilities can be consulted at the Pedagogy and Education Development Center of Yerevan State University. There are 4 educational programs here: "Social Pedagogy" (Bachelor's degree, on-site), "Educational Organization" (Master's degree, on-site and off-site), "School Pedagogy and Methodology" (Master's degree, off-site), and "Teaching Leadership" (Master's degree, off-site). The graduates of the mentioned educational programs enter the labor market with knowledge following the requirements of the time, to provide solutions to the problems arising in various situations with new approaches and professional qualities that will enable to transform the educational system of Armenia, leading to development.
The Center for Pedagogy and Education Development is taught by well-known and leading specialists in the field, who undergo training in prestigious international educational and scientific institutions and are also involved in local and international research programs.
Internationally renowned scientists (from the USA, UAE, etc.) regularly give lectures at the center. Thanks to the knowledge and skills provided within the framework of the educational programs operating here, students enter the professional labor market even from the years of their studies (especially from the 3rd year).
YSU Center for Pedagogy and Education Development has wide cooperative relations not only with different RA universities, schools, child support, and care, and child development (including autism) centers but also with foreign universities (England, Austria, USA, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, UAE).
There is a great demand in the labor market not only for social pedagogues but also for education organizers and teacher-leaders, which allows the center's graduates to occupy a stable position in the field.
