The students of YSU Charles Aznavour Cultural Center returned from the international competition with a victory
The representatives of the girls' dance ensemble of YSU Charles Aznavour Cultural Center took part in the "Slavyansky Bazaar" international art festival in Vitebsk and became the laureates of the 3rd class award.
The selection stages of the festival took place in Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Belarus. More than a hundred participants aged 6 to 25 entered the finale in dozens of groups. The performance of the dance groups was evaluated by a professional jury based on the criteria of technique-composition-character-entertainment.
Karine Davtyan, director of YSU Charles Aznavour Cultural Center, stated that participation in such a large-scale competition is already an important achievement for the center and particularly for the members of the dance ensemble.
"This is the first time our center has participated in this competition, and, notably, it recorded a brilliant result. This proves that the students of the ensemble have a great potential to occupy the first position in the following years," stated K. Davtyan.
The artistic director of the girls' dance ensemble, Ani Haroyan, speaking about the ensemble's participation in the competition, noted that among the dance groups representing 18 countries, the performance of the YSU Culture Center girls representing Armenia was one of the most impressive.
"Although there were four members of our group, it was still possible to create such a dance with which we tried to represent the culture of Armenia. The reaction of the jury, made up of world-renowned and outstanding choreographers, confirmed that we were able to convey the Armenian spirit," said Ani Haroyan.
This was the first big competition for the girls of the dance ensemble of YSU Charles Aznavour Cultural Center, where the victory they recorded excited them to participate in new competitions. According to them, the center is one of the best platforms where they get the opportunity to acquire cultural education along with academic education.
It should be noted that the Charles Aznavour Cultural Center of YSU constantly participates in prestigious international competitions and contributes to raising the reputation of the university.
