YSU welcomed the freshmen of the 105th generation
YSU held the annual event entitled "105TH GREETINGS" dedicated to the new academic year and the reception of freshmen. As part of the event, an exhibition was held, during which YSU departments presented their activities, organizing simulation games, quizzes, competitions, and quests. The day ended with a festive concert.
The purpose of the event was to familiarize students with the many educational and extracurricular opportunities offered by the university and help them get answers to their questions.
Welcoming the attendees and congratulating the freshmen on becoming university students, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, noted, "The title of today's ceremony symbolizes YSU's enduring legacy and commitment to fulfilling its mission. It marks not only the beginning of a new academic year but also a perennial tradition of academic excellence and a university community that has been enriched over more than a century of history. And it is not just a greeting, but an invitation to a new world of discoveries, a promise of positive transformation, and a commitment to developing your knowledge and skills.”
The YSU Rector advised the first-year students to strive for knowledge with enthusiasm and to believe in their own potential to make the world better.
During the event, the Science Policy Department, the Physical Education and Sports Chair, the Library named after Sargis and Marie Izmirlyan, the Continuing Education Center, the Alumni and Career Center, Aznavour Cultural Center, as well as L. Gharibjanyan Museum of History and Marketing Department were presented in booths.
The Educational-Methodological department presented the students with the details related to the organization of the educational process, while the Science Policy department organized a tour of scientific laboratories for students interested in scientific fields, held game competitions, and presented the department's activities.
Essential information related to educational discounts: application procedure, conditions, documents, deadlines, etc. were introduced by the Department of Financial Analysis.
The Department of International Cooperation informed freshmen about the possibilities of international educational and scientific programs and introduced the details of the "Erasmus+" international program, its application procedure, conditions, and opportunities.
The IT Department and the IT Educational and Research Center presented students with thematic stickers and QR codes, which will facilitate the process of restoring the student email address, as well as become a guide to finding the necessary information on the YSU website.
The Chair of Physical Education and Sports presented the trophies and certificates won by YSU sports teams from various competitions, the chair activities, and the sports groups operating in the university.
At the Sargis and Mari Izmirlyan Library booth, the library's departments, and the procedures for searching and ordering literature in the electronic version were presented, as well as a tour of the library was held for those interested.
The Continuing Education Center presented the center's programs and also held a quest for university students and professors, in which 15 teams and 110 university students participated.
The Alumni and Career Center conducted a quiz for students, a short course on creating a CV and presenting it to employers, and also recorded students' data to supplement the center's database.
The Aznavour Cultural Center presented its activities, students' and groups' awards, and samples of the center's costumes. The "YSU BAND", as well as the dance ensemble and choir students performed with flash mobs during the event.
In the Museum booth, photographs, books, postcards of the founding professors of the university, and archaeological exhibits were displayed, and the museum staff conducted an excursion to introduce the monuments located in the YSU yard.
The Marketing Department introduced YSU's official social media pages and branded products, the department's activities, and the importance of students participating in intra-university communication, as well as the opportunities and advantages of volunteering in the department. Game competitions were also held for students in the booth of the marketing department.
The "105TH GREETINGS" concluded with a festive concert, during which "NEMRA" and "By The Way" musical groups performed.
The event was attended by YSU faculty representatives, employees of various departments, students, and graduates.
