YSU Academic Council elected the deans of five faculties
YSU Academic Council convened an extraordinary session with five points on the agenda. The Academic Council elected the deans of the faculties of Geography and Geology, History, Russian philology, Biology, and International Relations of YSU.
At the beginning of the invited session, YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan thanked the former faculty heads for their work and contribution to the development of faculties.
Then YSU scientific secretary Mary Hovhannisyan informed that seven candidates were initially nominated for the position of dean of five faculties of YSU, but Trahel Vardanyan, a candidate for the position of dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology, applied one day before the election, stating that he will not participate in the elections. Therefore, according to the established procedure for the election of the heads of the YSU structural divisions, the Academic Council voted to remove the candidate's name from the ballot.
After approving the agenda, the candidates for the positions: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology - Head of the Office, Associate Professor Sargis Kelyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Archeology and Ethnography of the Faculty of History Mkhitar Gabrielyan, Associate Professor of the Armenian History Chair of the same faculty Mikayel Malkhasyan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology - Head of the Office, Associate Professor Diana Gazarova, deputy dean of the Faculty of Biology - Head of the Office, Associate Professor Karen Ghazaryan and acting Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Associate Professor Tigran Yepremyan, accordingly presented the concepts of the development of their faculties, answering the questions of the members of the AC.
To organize the election of the deans of the presented faculties, a counting committee was formed and a closed secret vote was announced.
Sargis Kelyan, Mkhitar Gabrielyan, Diana Gazarova, Karen Ghazaryan, and Tigran Epremyan were elected deans of the respective faculties.
