Cooperation between YSU and the University of the Republic of Uruguay strengthened
Eduardo Augusto Rosenbrock Bidart, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the Republic of Armenia, gave a lecture titled "Imaginations of the Ambassador, Uruguayan Diplomacy and Challenges of the 21st Century" in YSU Paleans Hall, within the framework of which new ways of cooperation were also discussed.
Tigran Epremyan, Dean of YSU Faculty of International Relations, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, referring to the cooperation between Armenia and Uruguay, noted that it is planned to strengthen the educational and scientific cooperation between the two countries. One of the steps aimed at strengthening that cooperation will be the organization of the students' visit to the Embassy of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the Republic of Armenia, the purpose of which is to get the students acquainted with the work of the embassy. There will also be an opportunity for online mutual lectures with the University of the Republic of Uruguay.
"Students of the University of Uruguay will listen to the lectures organized by us, and our students will listen to theirs. Armenia and Uruguay have unique interstate relations, in which the fact that Uruguay was the first country to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide has a significant role. The connection between the two states will also promote the creation of new ties in the field of education, as well as the students will have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge about Latin America," said T. Epremyan.
Gor Petrosyan, Deputy Dean of the YSU Faculty of International Relations, emphasizing the need to constantly update the knowledge of modern political science, assured that meetings with diplomats, as well as professors visiting Armenia, will contribute to the enrichment of students' knowledge.
Eduardo Augusto Rosenbrock Bidart, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the Republic of Armenia, presented the old and new methods of diplomacy, the formation of international relations and the role of the diplomat in those relations.
"Diplomacy is the management of international relations by negotiation; the method by which these relations are adjusted and managed by ambassadors and envoys," said Ambassador Eduardo Augusto Rosenbrock Bidart, quoting famous diplomat Harold Nicholson.
Speaking about Uruguay's foreign policy, the ambassador pointed out the countries with which the state has established diplomatic and educational ties. He stated that despite the great geographical distance between Armenia and Uruguay, the two countries have had diplomatic ties since early times and cooperate closely. The presence of the Armenian community in Uruguay also testifies to the cooperative relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing the future cooperation of the higher educational institutions of the two countries, the ambassador emphasized that to ensure constant communication between Yerevan State University and universities in Uruguay, they decided to organize regular communication of faculty members through video calls, which will help to strengthen the relations between the two universities and maintain cultural ties.
It should be noted that students studying in the YSU Faculty of International Relations and the faculty members were present at the meeting. At the end of the meeting, the students had the opportunity to ask the ambassador their questions.
