YSU 4 educational programs internationally accredited for the first time
The German ASIIN International Agency accredited the "Biochemistry and Biotechnology" undergraduate educational program, "General and Medical Biochemistry" graduate educational program, "Pharmacy" undergraduate and graduate educational program of the Pharmacy Institute of YSU Faculty of Biology.
Accredited educational programs were selected taking into account the modernity, uniqueness, high demand in the labor market, compliance of human, material and technical resources with international standards of accreditation.
Year and a half ago, in the first stage of accreditation process, evaluation and analysis of those 4 educational programs were carried out in YSU, then a report was drawn up and presented to the ASIIN agency.
After getting acquainted with the report, the experts visited YSU in October to evaluate the situation on the ground, get acquainted with the technical equipment and laboratory capabilities, and meet with the co-beneficiary groups. At the next stage of the accreditation process, the expert group presented in writing the impressions of the visit, observations and consultation, and now it has already given the final expert assessment, accrediting YSU 4 educational programs.
Referring to the opportunities and advantages provided by international accreditation, Armen Budaghyan, the Director of the Quality Assurance Center of YSU, emphasized. "International accreditation will contribute to the internationalization of YSU by promoting the international mobility of students and professors, will increase the ranking of the university, educational units and accredited educational programs, making them more attractive for Armenian and foreign applicants."
Karen Ghazaryan, Dean of YSU Faculty of Biology, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences and Anna Mkrtchyan, Director of YSU Pharmacy Institute, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, noted that having internationally accredited programs is a great achievement for their educational departments.
"It will be mentioned in the diploma of the graduate of the internationally accredited educational program, which will open up new opportunities not only in the local but also in the international labor market," said Anna Mkrtchyan. Karen Ghazaryan added. "This first and successful experience will become a guide for our faculty and other educational departments of the university to go through the same process and have new internationally accredited educational programs."
It should be noted that this achievement stems from Yerevan State University's strategic priorities of providing quality education and contributing to the internationalization of the university.
