YSU, UBA sign cooperation memorandum to support students forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA), emphasizing the importance of partnership and collaboration in discussing and implementing programs of mutual interest, as well as integrating them into students' education and specialization processes, signed a memorandum of cooperation.
As a result of the memorandum, financial support will be provided to students forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh who are currently studying at YSU. This assistance will come from the proportional contributions of all 18 commercial banks operating in Armenia that are members of the Union of Banks of Armenia.
"Yerevan State University prioritizes the educational and social needs of students and constantly seeks solutions. The memorandum of cooperation signed today not only solves the issue of tuition fees for our students forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh, but also lays the groundwork for future joint programs and initiatives aimed at developing students' practical skills and expanding educational opportunities. We deeply appreciate the support of the Union of Banks and their commitment to collaboration," said YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the UBA, particularly emphasized the social component of the cooperation.
"Banks responded to YSU's offer with great enthusiasm, and the decision regarding support was made unanimously. All 18 commercial banks in Armenia participated in this important initiative in varying proportions. As a result, approximately 35 million drams will be allocated specifically to cover the tuition fees for 264 students from both the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Law," emphasized Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the UBA.
According to the memorandum, the parties will organize open classes and seminars, publish educational materials, implement joint research projects, and develop international cooperative programs.
Additionally, YSU students will have the opportunity to undergo educational and professional internships at the UBA, while faculty members will be able to participate free of charge in professional training courses offered by the UBA Training and Qualification Center.
