10th International Conference of YSU SSS launched
The 10th International Youth Conference of the Student Scientific Society was launched at YSU, commemorating the university's 105th anniversary. This year’s conference is especially significant as it also marks the 77th anniversary of the society.
The conference aims to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as young scientists, the opportunity to present their research outcomes to an academic audience, enhance their skills in scientific work, and establish connections with young researchers both in Armenia and abroad.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan highlighted the significant role of the Student Scientific Society in uniting students and young researchers not only from Armenia but also from universities worldwide. He stated, "Today, the SSS has become an exciting center for students, as each year researchers from various countries apply to participate in its international conferences. SSS conferences are invaluable, allowing students to take their 'first steps' into science. Together with their scientific supervisors, they begin conducting research and creating scholarly work, thereby contributing to the field. I am confident that these scientific endeavors can lay the groundwork for future discoveries and advancements."
Siranush Baghumyan, President of the YSU Student Scientific Society, presented the agenda for the five-day international conference and noted, "This year's conference is unprecedented in terms of the number of applications received; we received 316 applications for participation, including 45 from foreign universities. Following a scientific review, 215 authors were selected, with 30 of them coming from abroad. Among the conference participants, we have a significant number of guests from Russia and Georgia, as well as one participant from Uruguay."
In this context, Siranush Baghumyan emphasized that throughout the five days of the international conference, panel discussions will be held in various faculties of YSU, and historical visits will be organized for international guests.
Additionally, an expo dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the founding of the YSU Student Scientific Society has been organized, showcasing the society's activities, the projects undertaken in the faculties, and initiatives aimed at increasing student involvement in scientific pursuits.
The SSS regularly organizes seminars, conferences, and lectures to promote the scientific and creative development of students.
More than 9,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students have joined the 77-year-old society.
Before the establishment of the SSS, student scientific groups operated in the chair of YSU during the 1920s and 1930s. Almost two decades later, in September 1947, a general meeting of the members of these groups was convened, during which the decision was made to create a university student scientific society.
