Ministry of High-Tech Industry visits YSU: New development prospects for collaboration at the core of discussions
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Minister of High Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and a member of the university's Board of Trustees, was hosted at Yerevan State University. During his visit, he toured the Institutes of Pharmacy and Physics, as well as the Faculty of Chemistry. He visited laboratories equipped with modern devices and auditoriums that have been renovated with contemporary solutions. Additionally, he learned about ongoing scientific projects and innovations.
The university's researchers presented to the minister an overview of both the scientific projects funded by YSU and the equipment acquired, as well as the work conducted with grants from the Higher Education and Science Committee of the RA MoESCS and international sources. They emphasized the fruitful collaborations with university partners.
Following the tour of the laboratories, the minister of High-Tech Industry held a meeting with professors and students in the YSU Academic Council Session hall. During this meeting, they discussed ways to expand collaboration with the ministry.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan encouraged the faculty members present to provide more detailed insights into their scientific research processes and expected outcomes, as well as to propose ideas for collaboration.
Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan highlighted the importance of making test samples produced through fundamental research in YSU laboratories more practical for use in the economy. He noted that a key strategy of the ministry is to develop policies that focus on applied directions.
"The high-tech sector has significant potential and should be the most important segment of the structure of the entire economy, driving progress in other sectors as well," the minister noted.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan listened to university students' ideas on how to transform research into products for domestic markets and collaborate with international markets. He assured them that the Ministry of High-Tech Industry is committed to investing resources to support this process.
The minister also highlighted that the ministry has initiated several steps to advance the sector, including developing legislation to promote the high-tech industry.
