Prospects of continuing education in Germany presented to YSU students
A meeting with Tobias Studemann, Director of the East European Office at Free University of Berlin, Germany, was held at YSU Balian Hall. During the meeting, Tobias Studemann presented the opportunities offered by Free University of Berlin as part of the Erasmus+ and other exchange programs.
Tobias Studemann mentioned that German higher education institutions are recognized worldwide for providing high-quality education across various fields, including engineering, social sciences, and language studies, positioning Germany as one of the top destinations for pursuing higher education.
"At Free University of Berlin, students can make their own study schedules. They can choose the subjects they want to study in-depth, allowing them to focus on areas that genuinely interest them. I think this approach is very motivating," he said.
Tobias Studemann, speaking about universities in Germany, particularly Free University of Berlin, emphasized that students from various countries around the world continue their education there. Notably, the university offers free education, including for international students.
"There is only a semester fee, which is intended for administrative expenses. It is quite a small amount and also includes the ticket fee for public transport," the speaker pointed out.
Regarding knowledge of the German language, the Director of the East European Office at Free University of Berlin emphasized that many educational programs do not require proficiency in German.
He added that having studied abroad makes a specialist more competitive in the labor market, as many employers consider it an advantage.
Tobias Studemann also presented the unique architecture of Free University of Berlin, its buildings, the conditions at the student dormitories, extracurricular activities, such as the university orchestra composed of talented students, and sports programs.
It is important to note that YSU faculty members also can take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Free University of Berlin, delivering lectures there, while researchers can conduct research work as part of grant programs.
At the end of the meeting, Tobias Studemann answered the students' questions regarding the duration of residence in Germany during their studies, as well as the possibility of combining study and work.
