Results of the University Russian Language Olympiad in summarized
The award ceremony for the winners of the University Russian Language Olympiad was held at the Faculty of Russian Philology. The Olympiad was open to students who had completed their first year in the bachelor’s educational program, excluding those from the Faculty of Russian Philology.
The University Russian Language Olympiad has a history of nearly 20 years and has been held continuously. This year, 148 students participated.
Diana Gazarova, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology, highlighted the outstanding results achieved by the students, noting that these results reflect their deep knowledge of the Russian language. She also emphasized that the growing interest of students from other faculties in the Russian language and culture motivates them even more.
Naira Martiryan, Head of the Russian Language Chair, explained that the Olympiad consists of two stages, each testing different skills and knowledge. "In the first stage, the focus is on speaking skills. Students read an assigned text and then orally retell it while answering questions from the committee. In the second stage, they are given a questionnaire with 80 questions on Russian grammar, culture, and history. Additionally, there is a creative task requiring students to write an advertising text."
Susanna Lalayan, Associate Professor at the Chair of the Russian Language, Chair of the University Russian Language Olympiad Committee, emphasized the importance of promoting the Russian language beyond the Faculty of Russian Philology. By organizing this Olympiad for students from other faculties, they aim to foster greater interest in the Russian language and culture.
Based on the results of the Olympiad, Albert Shahbazyan, a second-year student at the Faculty of International Relations, took first place. Second place was awarded to Alexander Ajoyan and Vache Ayvazyan, second-year students at the Institute of Physics.
