Students of YSU STEM High School achieve victories in international competition
Three students from the STEM High School of Yerevan State University have been recognized as winners in the "Innovative Development Strategies" 8th International Competition. This accomplishment highlights the exceptional abilities and knowledge of the students. The competition aims to foster the development of students' and pupils' critical thinking and professional skills.

The results of the "Innovative Development Strategies" 8th International Competition have been summarized. The organizers of the competition were the Department of Economic and Financial Strategies of the Moscow School of Economics, the Center for Strategic Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (with the participation of Shanghai University), National University of Science and Technology MISiS, and Kemerovo State University. The winners of the competition were the 10th-grade students of YSU STEM High School Mila Avetisyan, Hayk Poghosyan, and Mane Navasardyan.
Aram Khachatryan, Director of the STEM High School, emphasized that participating in the competition was a significant achievement, as the students successfully presented their research projects and achieved excellent results.

"This success once again proves that the STEM School provides an environment conducive to developing students' knowledge and abilities, where they can acquire professional skills and showcase their talents in various competitions. It is one thing when students demonstrate their knowledge during the course process, and entirely different when they are assessed by an independent committee. Achieving victories in such competitions also serves as motivation for others," said A. Khachatryan, stressing that although the STEM School has been operating for only a year and a half, it has already been able to achieve significant successes in both national and international competitions. This speaks to the school's effective work and the high level of its students, who compete and win on international platforms when education is focused on the development of innovative, creative, and research-based skills.
Participants had the opportunity to research topics related to the strategies in fields such as economics, transportation, industry, agribusiness, information technology, sociology, culture, ecology, education, sports, medicine, tourism, and regional socio-economic systems. The STEM School students conducted research in fields such as medicine, industry, and tourism. They submitted their research work online, in accordance with the competition’s rules and procedures.
The research efforts of the students were supported by Anush Mkrtchyan, a Russian language teacher at YSU STEM School, as they did their work in Russian. The teacher noted that no significant issues arose during the research process, as the students were highly proficient in the language. Anush Mkrtchyan provided support throughout the year by teaching Russian literature and grammar.
"This is a very important experience, as participating in such competitions helps develop students' skills and abilities, especially when they take part in international competitions," she stated.
The competition committee selected the best works, and their authors were awarded diplomas.

Mane Navasardyan, a 10th-grade student at YSU STEM, presented a research paper on tourism. She discussed the development of tourism in Armenia, provided statistics on the sector, and explored the history of Armenia. The work demonstrated not only a deep approach to the subject but also her keen interest and desire to expand her knowledge in the field of tourism. Mane was highly motivated by the opportunity to succeed in the competition and had a strong desire to win.

Hayk Poghosyan’s research focused on Armenia’s industry. The topic aligned with his interests, as he is deeply engaged in the country’s economy and industrial development. In his work, he examined the history of industrial development in Armenia, outlined various phases of progress, presented relevant statistics and analysis, and proposed pathways for future growth in the sector.

Mila Avetisyan’s research dealt with the field of medicine. She explored advancements in medical technology and methods, which have a significant impact on the healthcare sector.
It is worth noting that participants in the international competition included students from schools and universities, teachers, and researchers from 33 countries around the world.
