YSU summarizes past year’s outcomes
The 2023-2024 academic year was highly productive for Yerevan State University. Despite facing significant external challenges that had a profound impact on both society and the university, YSU successfully adhered to its strategic plan. Throughout the year, it focused on enhancing educational programs, advancing scientific research, and strengthening international partnerships. Efforts to modernize the educational environment continued, with the university striving to create conditions that align with global standards and evolving demands.

The effectiveness of the 2023-2024 academic year is reflected in both the achievements across various fields and the significant volume of work completed.

In the previous academic year, the university developed a new strategic development plan for 2025-2030. It is worth noting that the previous strategy was originally set to run until the end of 2026, but due to the university’s rapid progress, it was successfully implemented a year ahead of schedule. Moreover, the actions taken and programs introduced during this period—many of which were responses to emerging challenges and reforms—fell outside the scope of the 2025-2030 strategy's goals and priorities, highlighting the need for additional accountability measures.

Yerevan State University is the first higher education institution in Armenia to offer four internationally accredited educational programs in the previous academic year. This achievement reflects the high quality of these programs, their alignment with international standards, and their competitiveness. The university is now working towards expanding the number of internationally accredited programs to 10 and aims to gradually ensure international accreditation for all its educational programs.
YSU has continued its collaboration with the world’s leading universities and research centers, fostering the exchange of best practices and enhancing the university’s global standing.

YSU has continued to enhance the Registrar system by adding new tools. The full implementation of this system will enable students to tailor their education to their interests through flexible and personalized programs.
The previous academic year was marked by another significant milestone for YSU: the launch of YSU STEM High School. A total of 36 applicants were admitted to the school in the 2023-2024 academic year. This year, for the first time, the high school opened admissions for 10th-grade students in the social sciences direction for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Thanks to a substantial increase in state funding for scientific development and the investments made by YSU, significant reforms have been achieved. During this period, 30 monographs, 245 conference proceedings, and 1,161 articles were published. YSU also set a new record for the number of scientific works published in journals indexed in Scopus database.
As of December 15, 2024, the number of YSU scientific works published in prestigious international journals has reached 528. Of these, 433 are scientific articles, with more than 200 published in Q1 journals. The number of publications is expected to continue growing.

Active involvement of students and faculty members in scientific research is a key priority for Yerevan State University. To support this goal, the university consistently renovates and equips auditoriums and laboratories with the latest technology, while also developing new infrastructures. Notably, a new server room has been designed, renovated, and equipped with advanced communication systems, including two powerful server computers: Nvidia DGX A100 and Nvidia DGX H100. These computing systems are used by YSU machine learning group to develop cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools.
Thus, during the 2023-2024 academic year, YSU achieved significant successes across all areas of its activities and recorded visible results. Analyzing these outcomes provides a foundation to continue on the path of transformation and systemic reforms.
