PREMIERE OF "VAHAN TERYAN..." PLAY AT YSU

The author and director of the script was Karine Davtyan, director of YSU Charles Aznavour Cultural Center, and artistic director of the theater studio, while music instrumentation was done by composer Artur Hakobyan, the costumes were designed by artist-designer Lilit Melikyan, dance performances were arranged by Ani Haroyan, and technical support was done by Alexander Tsakanyan. The actors were students of the "Universitian" theater studio.

In a conversation with us, Karine Davtyan said that she organized many literary and musical evenings dedicated to Vahan Teryan, but to present the writer in a multifaceted way, it was necessary to stage a performance.

"I worked on the script of the play for two years, studying various sources and literature. The audience witnessed the fusion of all that with my approach and interpretation," said K. Davtyan.

She emphasized that the layers of Teryan's character, which were rarely talked about before, can be seen in the performance.

"Teryan is presented here not only as a poet singing of autumn, but also as a strong personality, a good friend and a loving person, a politician, a powerful patriot, and an Armenian who loves his country infinitely, who will make many sacrifices for the sake of his homeland," she noted.

Vahan Teryan's childhood and youth were reflected in the play, but his adult years were mainly presented. For Arzun Gevorgyan, who played Teryan as an adult, the performance showed Teryan and the period he lived in a new light.

"For me, it was not Teryan's creative path that I first got to know, but his type of Armenian person, his state, political and civic activities," he said.

According to Karine Davtyan, the author, and director of the script, Teryan's character is very important and exemplary for today's youth with his personality, the type of writer, the interesting, revolutionary, and strong character of a thinker and scientist.

It should be noted that the vice-rectors of Yerevan State University and other representatives of the rectorate, professorial staff, students, representatives of the cultural sector, and other guests were present at the premiere of the performance.
