YSU Academic Council elects deans for faculties On April 3, 5, and 8, extraordinary sessions of the YSU Academic Council were held with the agenda of the election of deans for the faculties of Law, Philosophy and Psychology, European Languages and Communication.
President of Izmirlian Foundation, Sarkis Izmirlian awarded Honorary Doctor of YSU A solemn event was held in the session hall of YSU Academic Council, at which Armenian philanthropist, businessman, President of the Izmirlian Foundation, active public figure Sarkis Dikran Izmirlian was awarded with the degree of Honorary Doctor of Yerevan State University.
State-of-the-art devices for studying useful properties of plants and fungi Armenia's rich biodiversity, including fungi and plants, are in the domain of YSU researchers’ study. Secondary metabolites in fungi and plants and their antifungal and antioxidant activities are currently being studied in the Laboratory of Botany and Mycology of the Research Institute of Biology. To organize the work more systematically, the institute will receive new generation devices.
YSU celebrates International Geologist's Day The International Geologist's Day was solemnly celebrated at YSU. During this occasion, the university signed memorandums with the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the leading institutions in the field of geology, with the aim of developing the educational sector and enhancing the university-labor market linkage.
Research conducted at YSU is on agenda of international conference In the Scientific Laboratory of Physics of Superdense Stars at the YSU Institute of Physics, scientists conduct many research studies. Researchers periodically publish articles about the findings in high-ranking journals, as well as prepare reports, presenting the research findings at international conferences.
"On the road to success, the opportunities provided by YSU are important and valuable": YSU PhD student at University of A Coruna Sona Hayrapetyan, a PhD student at the Chair of Theory and History of State and Law, YSU Faculty of Law, is currently studying at the University of A Coruna (Spain) as part of "Erasmus+" International Credit Mobility Programme. With the purpose of implementing a research project her studies will last 5 months.
Renovation and re-equipment of YSU laboratories as stimulus for development of scientific and educational life With the purpose of continuously improving the field of education and science, creating a conducive and innovative environment for research, YSU takes practical steps towards renovating, furnishing and replenishing laboratories with necessary equipment.
YSU assistants research new approaches to promote plant growth in saline soils Gayane Avetisova and Lusine Melkonyan, assistants at the Chair of Pharmacochemistry and Pharmacognosy, YSU Institute of Pharmacy, are authors of several scientific articles. As part of their research, they studied the effect of soil salinization on the nitrogen-fixing microflora in Armenia and Belarus, as well as the approaches to obtaining new strains for the restoration of saline soils. The research studies were carried out within the framework of the Armenian-Belarusian scientific project.

From YSU to San Jose State University: student Alber Makaryan’s story Alber Makaryan, a student at the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, has been studying at San Jose State University, USA for two months. He is the second student of the faculty who is continuing his education abroad within the framework of the cooperation between YSU " Data Science in Business" and San Jose State University "Data Analysis" master’s programs.
