“SOCIAL WORKERS IMPROVE OUR LIFE”. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AT YSU

The conference was organized by the Department of Social Work and Social Technologies of YSU Faculty of Sociology, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Association of Social Workers of Armenia with the support of USAID, World Vision Armenia, and UNICEF.

Acting Rector of YSU Mr. Gegham Gevorgyan welcomed the participants and congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the Social Worker's Day.

Mr. Gegham Gevorgyan briefly outlined the steps the university is taking to support people in need of social support.

Mr. Cegham Gevorgyan noted that in the next two years it is planned to construct ramps in all buildings of YSU.

RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan also congratulated social workers and noted that this profession and work is perhaps the most important for a democratic, social state.

Zaruhi Batoyan expressed confidence that in the near future there will be wider opportunities for cooperation and said that she expects everyone's support.

Deputy Representative Unicef-Armenia Liv Elin Indreiten noted that the role of the social worker was very important in adopting the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

She thanked the social workers for the work and especially for the support they provided to vulnerable children.
