VARDAN VOSKANIAN LECTURED ON IRAN'S POSITIONS ON ARTSAKH ISSUE
Head of the Department of Iranian Studies Vardan Voskanyan delivered a lecture on "Iran's Position in the Artsakh Issue" today at YSU Academic Council.
President of the Combat Training Club of YSU Liparit Ghazaryan welcomed the guests. “Today we will have a very interesting and meaningful meeting. It is no secret that the Artsakh conflict is one of the most complex conflicts in our region today, which has gone beyond the regional level, focusing the attention of international organizations", he said.
Vardan Voskanyan, expressing gratitude for the invitation, mentioned that he is very happy to give a lecture on the mentioned topic in front of the audience.
Speaking briefly about Iranian approaches, the Iranian expert said they could be divided into two areas: the open diplomatic rhetoric and the policy that is not often talked about.
He also highlighted the openness of the Artsakh-Iran border, as it is mutually beneficial, and as Armenians are more interested in the matter, they should take certain steps to use that border.
The speaker did not advise to use the name Karabakh as it contradicts our historical truth.
"We should use our geographical name - Artsakh", he said.
At the end of the meeting the students addressed their questions to the speaker.
