Today, lecturer at the Moscow State Institute and Moscow State University, Candidate of Political Science Pyotr Oskolkov gave a public lecture on "Ethnicity and Nationalism in the Modern World" at YSU.
Speaking about the constituents of ethnos, Mr.Pyotr Oskolkov noted that statehood, territory, traditions, cultural peculiarities, and historical heritage are key parts of ethnos.
Distinguishing ethnic and nationalist boundaries, the speaker argued that nationalism is a broader concept. “What they say is nationalism is overly burdensome. It includes both the territorial and the psychological."
According to the lecturer, nationalism implies a stable biological and hereditary society. “In an unhealthy society there are deviations. Cultural constructivism comes from our individuality. every individual is the basis of the national. "
