YSU acting Rector Gegham Gevorgyan hosted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mrs. Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė and Minister Counsellor Nida Dalmantaitė.
The YSU Vice-Rector for Intnernational Cooperation and Public Relations Arthur Israelyan , the Head of the International Cooperation Department Alexander Margarov and the Director of Library Yeznik Mirzoyan also attended the meeting. Ways and possibilities of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mrs. Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė noted that although these are difficult times for Armenia, on the one hand, the epidemic, on the other hand, the war, nevertheless, we should look forward to trying to bring the established cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
According to her, last year humanitarian aid was pushed to the first place, but this year new, more complete projects are expected to be implemented. "The epidemic has not receded yet, but we want to promote the spread of Lithuanian culture, history and literature in Armenia through something symbolic. To achieve this goal, we have launched a new initiative today, in the framework of which we are donating books by Lithuanian authors. Our event has started in the National Assembly and at YSU, for which we are very happy. "
During the meeting the ways of establishing cooperation between YSU and Lithuanian universities were discussed.
According to Alexander Margarov, one of the effective ways is the exchange programs organized through the "Erasmus +" program, within the framework of which Armenian-Lithuanian students, as well as lecturers, can make mutual visits.
The Head of the Department of International Cooperation stated that within the framework of this project YSU has 65 partners, with whom it actively implements mobility programs.
At the end of the meeting YSU Rector Gegham Gevorgyan also donated books to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė and to Minister Counsellor Nida Dalmantaitė.
