SCIENTIFIC TOPIC: THE RISKS OF DISEASES CIRCULATING AMONG WILD ANIMALS AND HUMANS AND THEIR MECHANISMS WILL BE ANALYZED
"Development of biosafety capacities in Armenia: mammals as disease vectors ”scientific topic, which was submitted by YSU, was guaranteed funding by the Science Committee of RA ESCS.
The program aims to analyze the risks of diseases circulating among wild animals and humans, as well as the existence and prevalence of pathogens and their vectors (wild mammal species).
One of the 5 topics of YSU guaranteed by the Committee of Science is the following topic: "Development of Biosafety Capacities in Armenia: mammals as disease vectors", which aims to create maps of hotspots based on the risk index of congenital diseases, as well as to identify these mechanisms, which will contribute to the improvement of long-term infectious disease monitoring programs and control effectiveness.
Speaking to us, Astghik Ghazaryan, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology at the Faculty of Biology, said that the emergence of infectious diseases due to both natural events and climate change poses a significant and growing risk for Armenia.
According to her, bad coordinated biological control and disease control strategies endanger human health in the region.
According to Astghik Ghazaryan, the importance of this program is that new approaches will be developed for the organization of epidemiological control of infections transmitted by mammals.
