He held a master class with the students of the center.
We talked to David Serero about his visit to Armenia and cooperation with YSU Cultural Center.
-Mr. Serero, why did you decide to visit Armenia?
This is my first visit to Armenia.
I have many Armenian friends both in New York and in Paris.
We also implement joint projects of many Armenians and they told me often, that I should visit Armenia.
By the way, I also speak Russian very well, that's why many people think that I am Armenian, which is an honor for me.
When my friend Armando Ghukasyan offered me to become a member of the international jury of a vocal competition in Yerevan, I agreed, as we already had a successful example of cooperation within the same competition.
It was interesting that when I posted various Armenian articles on my Facebook page, all my Armenian friends responded with great enthusiasm.
And of course, Armenia is a place where I want to return again.
-Can you tell us more about your cooperation with YSU Cultural Center ?
Karine Davtyan, the director of YSU cultural center is a real specialist, an expert in her field.
I always say that the bigger a person is, the more open he or she is to various collaborations.
You can't have a successful career by saying "No".
And when she informed me that she is the director of the YSU Cultural Center, I immediately expressed a desire to come and sing for the talented students of the center.
Unfortunately, there is no time to do more, but I will come to Armenia again, and together we will organize a free concert for everyone.
-What advice would you give to young people who want to take their first steps in music field?
- The key is to sing easily and naturally, when people see that you are struggling , it means that something is wrong.
After that you should sing only when it is necessary. You need to listen to yourself and compare yourself with the industry leaders.
Learning and knowing of foreign languages are also very important.
I speak Russian, Spanish, English, French and can communicate with almost any speaker and gain a large audience.
