"YSU IS THE BEST PLACE TO GAIN DEEP ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE". MHER KHACHATRYAN
We talked about the activities of young researchers in the scientific field with Mher Khachatryan, a student in the Master's program "Applied Statistics and Data Science" of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of YSU.
Having been interested in astronomy since childhood, Mher Khachatryan first studied at Artashes Shahinyan special physics-mathematics school under the Yerevan State University and then continued his education at the Faculty of Physics of YSU. Currently, he is a student of the YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics.
During the interview, Mher told us that his scientific interests began with the study of high-energy astrophysics, particularly with data processing of blazars.
Referring to the beginning of his studies, Mher said, "After two years of blazar data processing, I decided to try my hand at the industry. Along with scientific research, I also dealt with machine learning issues."
Since 2015, Mher has been trying to promote love and interest in science, especially in astronomy, among people.
"I constantly conduct seminars, online webinars on astronomy in the schools of the regions, organize astronomical observations, participate in camps where I also present lectures and thus try to transfer my knowledge to others," he said.
Mher assured that every person should be informed about science and scientific news, as today's constantly developing technologies have a crucial role in people's lives.
Today YSU creates wide opportunities for doing science, among which internal grants play a significant role. Although some people avoid complex tasks, as well as contact with people more knowledgeable than they are, Mher is attracted to science by the complex tasks, contact with smart people, and the discovery of effective and innovative techniques.
"Scientists are always a few steps ahead of everyone else. This is the peculiarity of doing science. I am confident that I can achieve my goals by getting to know the innovations and applying them if possible,” said Mher Khachatryan.
According to Mher, doing science is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. For that, a person needs at least one important quality: curiosity.
"When people find out that I am engaged in science, they react positively. They are more surprised by my age. People think that you have to be grey-haired to do science," our interlocutor smiled.
Speaking about the knowledge gained at YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, Mher said that thanks to the professors and the formed system, they are becoming more and more comprehensive and multi-content day by day.
"YSU is the best place to gain deep academic knowledge. In acquiring professional skills, the professors of the Faculty of Physics helped me a lot, guided me to love mathematics more, which is not only used in physics, in life, but also in solving everyday problems in general," assured Mher.
Referring to the importance of having technically equipped audiences, Mher mentioned. "In my opinion, it is difficult to acquire a profession of the 21st century without appropriate equipment. Fortunately, we have technically equipped classrooms where classes can be carried out more effectively."
During the interview, Mher assured us that Yerevan State University has its own unique and irreplaceable place and role in the successes he has recorded while conducting scientific activities and in his plans for the future.
