SUBSTANTIAL MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS ARE CONTINUOUSLY ORGANIZED FOR YSU STUDENTS
A meeting took place at the Faculty of Journalism of YSU, during which Aram Abrahamyan presented a lecture on "The First Steps of the Free Press in the Third Republic of Armenia": a discussion was held about the concept of freedom.
Naghash Martirosyan, the dean of the faculty, thanked the Director of the YSU Center for the Continuity of Education Lusine Kharatyan for organizing such events; and assured that such meetings will be continuous.
The meeting organized by the YSU Center for the Continuity of Education and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation was one of the lectures of the current month. The purpose of the meeting was to present YSU students with the two-volume collection "Independence and Liberal Reforms of the Republic of Armenia" published by Friedrich Nauman's "For Freedom" Foundation during 2020-2021 and the articles included in it.
During the interview, L. Kharatyan mentioned that the authors of the published articles either were directly the authors of the reforms or were actively involved in the reform works of the given region.
"The collection published by the efforts of Aram Manukyan consists of articles related to the reforms of the first period of Armenia's independence, the authors of which have already met with the students of the faculties of law, economics, and management of YSU. Such meetings will be organized in all faculties of YSU. The author of each article will present his study in the relevant faculty," emphasized L. Kharatyan.
On August 23, 1990, an active discussion took place between Aram Manukyan, who read the RA Declaration of Independence, and the students of the Faculty of Journalism, after which A. Manukyan presented students with copies of the Declaration of Independence.
Presenting the collection "Independence of the Republic of Armenia and Liberal Reforms", A. Manukyan said that its translated version is available in 20 libraries around the world and in Armenian embassies of 60 countries.
"This collection of articles presents the process of liberal reforms of the nineties and the transition from the Soviet planned economy to the free market economy. It is an original collection; because the authors of the articles were at the beginning of the liberalization of Armenia," said A. Manukyan.
Aram Abrahamyan, editor-in-chief of "Aravot" daily, speaking about the collection and his article published there, said. "Whenever you need to study the period, that is, the foundation of our state; read these articles that give you a proper insight into them."
During the lecture A. Abrahamyan gave the students professional advice, presented his own experience, spoke about freedom of the press, as well as censorship, and answered the students' questions.
