"ITALIAN IS AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE LIKE ARMENIAN" AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF ITALY IN ARMENIA
YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication organized an event on "Armenian youth and the Italian language", during which students read works of modern Italian poets, and performed theatrical performances and musicals
Italian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Alfonso Di Rizzo, representatives of faculty interested in the Italian language and culture, students, and other guests, attended the event.
YSU European Languages and Communication Faculty dean Gevorg Barseghyan highlighted the cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Armenia, noting that it has a long history. The dean emphasized the similarities between the two countries, including the characteristics, hard work, creativity, and other features of the people of the two countries.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia Alfonso di Rizzo appreciated the event, stressing that it also contributes to increasing interest in the language.
"I'm glad to see a large number of Italian-speaking students interested in the language. Italian, like Armenian, is a very beautiful language. The basis of the Italian language is Latin, which is considered a perfect language, and many words are based on Latin roots," said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, emphasizing the role of Italian as a language that always arouses interest.
Hasmik Baghdasaryan, head of the Romance Philology Chair of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication of YSU, told us that there is a great interest in Italian in Armenia, and events like this have a significant role, especially from the point of view of language learning.
Referring to the interest shown by Armenian youth in the Italian language, H. Baghdasaryan mentioned that compared to previous years, the number of people interested in the Italian language has increased this year.
Speaking about the cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Armenia and the opportunities provided by it, H. Baghdasaryan stated that through the educational programs offered by the embassy, students of the faculty are regularly given opportunities to study in Italy.
Summarizing the speech, the head of the Romanian philology department noted that Ornella Chirillo, an Italian language lecturer, also works in the Italian language department, and has a great role in the development of students' oral speech skills. The latter invested a lot of effort in organizing this event.
It is noteworthy that two more events were organized at the faculty to promote the spread of Italian culture and the Italian language within the framework of cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Armenia. On October 5, the famous Italian writer, novelist, and artist Claudio Pozzani gave a lecture on the topic "With the wings of poetry", and on October 12, the famous writer Alessio Romano gave a lecture on "The history of Italy with the interpretation of three famous writers of Italian literature: Cesare Pavese, Natalia Ginzburg, and Beppe Fenoglio”.
The event was organized within the "22nd Week of Italian in the World" framework.
