THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE YSU FACULTY OF RADIOPHYSICS CORRESPOND WITH THE PROGRAMS OF THE WORLD'S LEADING UNIVERSITIES
Reforms are continuously carried out in different faculties of Yerevan State University to improve the quality of education, strengthen students' practical skills, carry out international scientific activities, and many other directions. The Faculty of Radiophysics of YSU is also a part of the process.
We had an interview with the dean of the faculty, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Khachatur Nerkararyan about the reforms being carried out in the Faculty of Radiophysics of YSU.
According to the dean, educational programs determine the face of the faculty. A new undergraduate educational program has been formed at the Faculty of Radiophysics, which is even more comprehensive and meets international standards and labor market requirements.
"Many educational programs are operating in our faculty and currently we are trying to reduce their number making them more comprehensive instead. We are planning to combine them into one program next year. This is justified by the fact that we tend to align the educational programs of the faculty with the programs of the world's leading universities. It is also very important for us to provide our students with jobs, which we have been doing for a long time through contractual cooperation with enterprises," the dean of the faculty explained.
According to Nerkararyan, the students of the first and second years will study together, and from the third year on, they will be separated according to their specializations.
The creation of new laboratories, increasing the number of individual and research works, thus bringing young scientists and researchers even closer to science, is also a priority of the Faculty of Radiophysics reform program.
"We attach great importance and try to do everything so that the students and young researchers of our faculty participate in international conferences, enter the arena of international science, conduct research, get involved in science and reach the heights", said Kh. Nerkararyan.
He stated that the faculty has a long experience involving young researchers in science. The Chair of Semiconductor Physics and Microelectronics allocates money from the base funding to the masters in the form of a stipend or wage, which will of course be continuous.
"This circumstance certainly cheers them up, allows them to take a more serious approach to the research and courses that are in the educational program," said the dean of the faculty.
During the interview, Nerkararyan also mentioned scientific funding, noting that the approximately double increase in the number of grants has brought many successes to the faculty.
"I should say with pleasure that the Faculty of Radiophysics also stands out in this aspect. The number of articles published in high-quality international journals has increased in the faculty. This circumstance further motivates our young researchers and scientists to work and achieve success," said Kh. Nerkararyan.
He added that various engineering institutions are trying to establish contact and cooperate with Yerevan State University, which proves the great potential of students.
Constantly taking into account the opinions, wishes, and views of students, thanks to continuous reforms, the Faculty of Radiophysics of YSU, does everything to help the students of the faculty to achieve success in the scientific field, by providing high-quality education, equipping them with relevant knowledge, promoting work in the professional field and so on.
