DAYS OF FRENCH LITERATURE IN YSU
A conference titled "Marcel Proust... ce souvenir, l'instant ancient..." was organized at YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication, during which the students were presented with the works of Marcel Proust and their analysis.
The dean of the faculty, Gevorg Barseghyan, noted that the conference is an important initiative of YSU's chair of French philology, within the framework of which the director of the French National Center for Scientific Research Nathalie Mauriac Dyer, and the professor of the Sorbonne University, Christophe Prado, the conference coordinator, were hosted.
The purpose of the conference was to introduce French literature to university students in a new way, as well as to listen, communicate with French people, and be acquainted with the scientific values that French literature includes.
Head of YSU French Philology Chair, Ph.D. Gayane Sargsyan, emphasizing the organization of such conferences, pointed out that by communicating with native speakers who are also scientists and intellectuals, students expand their horizons and worldview, as well as strengthen their professional knowledge. She added that the French novelist, reviewer, and critic, representative of modernism, Marcel Proust, is one of the representatives of world literature of the 19th century, with whom and whose works students should be familiar.
Aida Garnikyan, one of the organizers of the conference from Paris, cooperates with representatives of various French universities to help French-speaking students study the French language and literature.
In a conversation with us, A. Garnikyan said that she has been organizing such conferences since 2010, inviting the best specialists.
Milena Minasyan, a student of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication, always participates in conferences organized by the faculty. She stated that thanks to such interactions, students are able to communicate more easily with foreign professors and scientists, and love language and literature more.
After the reports, a discussion took place; the meeting was concluded with a question-and-answer session.
It should be noted that the conference was held within the framework of cooperation between the YSU European Languages and Communication Faculty Chair of French Philology, French Embassy in Armenia, "French Literature Days" Association, and "Aznavour" Foundation.
