STUDENTS OF YSU FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES CONTINUE TO GET PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE FROM NATIVE SPEAKERS
Khaled al-Fadhli, Director of the Language Center of Kuwait University, presented a lecture on "Dialectics of Language and Thought and the Origin of Arabic Grammatical Terms" at YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Such lectures organized at the university provide an opportunity to learn from native speakers about the latest developments in Arabic grammar, as well as introduce the possibilities and perspectives of studying abroad.
In the conversation with us, Hayk Kocharyan, Head of the Chair of Arabic Studies of YSU Oriental Studies Faculty, emphasized the role of such lectures. According to Kocharyan, they contribute to increasing interest in the language.
Referring to the cooperation with the language center of Kuwait University, the head of the department noted that it has solid foundations.
"This lecture is symbolic, because after the pandemic, the cooperative bond may be said to have weakened a little, and this lecture was also aimed at re-strengthening that bond. Apart from that, this is a good opportunity, especially for those students who have not had the opportunity to communicate with native speakers of the language," emphasized H. Kocharyan.
Khaled al-Fadhli, Director of the Language Center of Kuwait University, also emphasized the existing cooperation in his conversation with us. According to him, the exchange programs provide an opportunity for Armenian students who are fluent in Arabic to represent Armenia and Armenian culture abroad.
"There is a historical connection between Armenians and Arabs, which can be strengthened also thanks to student exchange programs. YSU has a great role in the development of this connection," said Khaled al-Fadhli.
Touching on the relevance of the topic of the lecture, he said that grammar sometimes seems more complicated, and presented the easiest ways to learn grammar.
The speaker said that there is a large number of people interested in Armenian in Kuwait.
"There is an Armenian community in Kuwait, and this is one of the main factors that became the basis for discussing the possibilities of opening an Armenian language learning center at Kuwait University," emphasized Khaled al-Fadhli.
YSU Oriental Studies Faculty students Anahit Bazeyan and Heghine Barseghyan returned two years ago from Kuwait, where they developed their knowledge of Arabic through the exchange program. In conversation with us, they mentioned that was a good opportunity to see their beloved professor again. According to YSU students, the opportunity to study in Kuwait provided by the faculty is invaluable.
Let us remind that four students from Cambridge and Edinburgh universities are studying at YSU Oriental Studies Faculty for one semester.
