PROFESSIONAL DISCUSSION AT YSU FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY AND GEOLOGY

The head of the topic is Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Trahel Vardanyan. The latter presented the problems of effective management of Lake Sevan and water resources, measures aimed at new problems and touched on other important topics. The attendees made suggestions, a discussion was held.

According to Vardanyan, in the first part of the project, earlier research in this direction will be analyzed and combined, as well as cadastral work and monitoring of the water resources of Lake Sevan and its basin, water use areas will be carried out. In the second part of the project, archival monitoring of water resources, analysis and synthesis of water use sectors will be carried out.

In the third part, a new plan for the sustainable management of water resources of Lake Sevan and its basin will be developed and proposed. In the final stage, it is planned to organize public hearings and discussions of the new plan for the sustainable management of the water resources of Lake Sevan and its basin.

It should be noted that the main goal of the research is to develop a plan for the effective and sustainable management of the water resources of Lake Sevan, which will scientifically substantiate and define the exact volumes of water resources inflow and outflow, strategic areas of water use and water consumption, and will contribute to the stabilization of the ecosystem of the lake, its basin and the development of a sustainable economy.

Let us add that the main representatives of the faculty's teaching staff were not present at the discussion, because the presented research topic has not yet been discussed in the Academic Council of the faculty, and the latter has not expressed a position and professional opinion on it.
