"THE UNIVERSITY IS A HUMANITARIAN CENTER FOR ARMENIAN STUDIES THAT DELIVERS MEANING AND EARTHLY ESSENCE TO THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF SCIENCE", TIGRAN MANSURYAN.
A meeting with Armenian composer, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mansuryan took place at YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center, during which university rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan presented the maestro with YSU gold medal.
Before the meeting with university students, the maestro, accompanied by YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Head of the Center for Students Affairs Vahagn Varagyan and Director of the Charles Aznavour Culture Center Karine Davtyan, laid flowers at the corner dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Artsakh war. Then, a large number of YSU students welcomed the prominent composer in the cultural center.
At the beginning of the meeting with university students, YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, emphasizing Tigran Mansuryan's visit to Yerevan State University, assured that the art created by the composer could be endlessly spoken about.
Touching on the role of culture in building a state, YSU rector emphasized that the future of the country is also conditioned by the respect shown to the work done by famous representatives of science and art.
"Every nation is strong with its great people. Arno Babajanyan, Tigran Mansuryan, Aram Khachatryan are among the greats of the Armenian nation... Today, I am extremely happy that the students of Yerevan State University have the opportunity to see, listen and ask questions to the outstanding composer," YSU rector emphasized.
During the meeting, the composer and his work were presented by his friends who have been on a creative path with him for many years. YSU long-time professor, an honored figure of the culture of the Republic of Armenia, poet, literary critic, Ph.D. Henrik Edoyan and the artistic director and chief conductor of the State Chamber Choir of Armenia and an honored figure of the art of the Republic of Armenia., Robert Mlkeyan were among them.
After watching a short video about the composer, the university students had the opportunity to ask the questions they were interested in.
Quoting the composer's idea that Armenia will become a developed country based on science, YSU Public Relations and Marketing Department employee Marine Mkrtchyan asked what role Yerevan State University plays in that matter, to which the maestro said: "The world is in a critical situation, and such strange problems have arisen, which on the one hand have a positive and on the other hand extremely negative meaning. I think that our scientific mind should be at the forefront of state thought, in which we have always succeeded.
Armenia was considered a republic of science even during the years of Soviet Union, and it is important that we remain so. The university is not only the rational center of science, but also the largest humanitarian center of national consciousness. It is a humanitarian center for Armenian studies, which delivers meaning and earthly essence to the achievements of science. The university provides the combination of these two."
Summarizing the speech, the maestro urged the students to study well to ensure the continuous development of science.
Karine Davtyan, director of the YSU Aznavour Culture Center, emphasizing the meetings organized within the "Cultural Education" program initiated by the center, told us. "One of the main and fundamental goals of the Aznavour Cultural Center is to form a connection between the great people of the time and university students, contributing to the development of their spiritual wealth. I can confidently say that the meeting organized with the composer was the best opportunity for university students to ask questions and receive answers to them."
It should be noted that at the end of the meeting, the YSU Choir performed the composition "Yes im anoush Hayastani", the author of which is the famous composer Tigran Mansuryan.
