YSU FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY AND GEOLOGY EXPANDS THE SCOPE OF INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
The YSU delegation participated in the discussion on "Possibilities of using geo-information technologies in the assessment and preservation of the state of historical and cultural heritage values" held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Kingdom of Spain), during which various reports related to the cultural heritage of a number of countries were presented.
The YSU delegation included Marat Grigoryan, the dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Artak Piloyan, the assistant professor of the Cartography and Geomorphology Chair, and Arsen Aproyan, the head of the International Cooperation Grants Coordination Department.
The Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Marat Grigoryan, referring to the role and importance of such discussions, mentioned that they are organized within the framework of close international cooperation.
"Measures aimed at preserving cultural heritage are of great importance for Armenia. In this regard, it is important to listen to the reports of representatives of European countries, in which various steps aimed at the implementation of these measures are indicated. It is noteworthy that the representatives of Spain carried out a study of the local cultural heritage, referring to the works aimed at the restoration of neglected important buildings," said M. Grigoryan.
Referring to the steps aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of Armenia and the role of the faculty in that matter, the dean stated, "It is noteworthy that very recently the faculty has acquired the latest equipment, which provides an opportunity to study the area and foundations of cultural heritage, assess the current state and predict their safety, for example, during an earthquake."
M. Grigoryan also emphasized the faculty's close cooperation with universities of different countries around the world, assuring that the visits and events organized within the framework of cooperation contribute to the expansion of students' professional knowledge and to getting to know the world uniquely.
"The faculty constantly cooperates with international universities; the best specialists of the field come to the university and give lectures on urgent topics. Apart from this, we also have cooperation agreements, within the framework of which foreign students do internships at YSU, and vice versa, students of our faculty do their internships at foreign universities. I can confidently say that this is one of the best opportunities offered to students," emphasized the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology of YSU.
It should be noted that the discussion took place within the "GeoTAK" program of "Erasmus+".
