CHECK-UP WITH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS AT YSU
It is the exam period at YSU, and on the initiative of Margarita Apresyan, lecturer of the 1st group of English of the Faculty of Law, a check-up in a form of a press conference with innovative solutions was held.
Since future lawyers study the legal system of Great Britain within the framework of the English subject, Professor Margarita Apresyan, head of the No. 1 English Chair of the YSU European Languages and Communication faculty, decided to put it into practice by testing students' knowledge of English uniquely. "This was a wonderful opportunity for students to combine professional knowledge and English vocabulary, oral and written skills," said M. Apresyan.
There are 22 students in the English group, one of whom impersonated Queen Elizabeth II, and the rest of the students spoke on behalf of media from different countries, asking questions on political and personal topics.
After the question-and-answer session, Milena Grigoryan, who portrayed the queen, sent a congratulatory message on the New Year and Christmas.
At first, Milena thought it was unusual to organize a check-up in that way, but then her excitement grew a lot.
"I wish that there would be opportunities to come up with such innovative solutions in the scope of other subjects as well. My classmates and I got great satisfaction from the test. The atmosphere was great, and the result, I think, was satisfying," said Milena.
The dean of the YSU Faculty of Law, Professor Gagik Ghazinyan, and other representatives of the teaching staff were also present at the check-up.
Dean G. Ghazinyan, emphasizing such innovative approaches and highly appreciating the students' preparation and the professor's initiative, noted, "In this case, the form was expressed and strengthened by the content. Thanks to the staged check-up, an idea arose to introduce English-language mock trials into the educational process, which will also contribute to enriching students' professional knowledge and increasing the level of English proficiency."
The dean expressed his hope that this will be an example for other faculties and professors in terms of making innovations in the teaching process and exam period, and students will use the acquired professional education and high personal qualities for the benefit of the state and society.
