THE YSU SCIENTISTS DEVELOP COURSES THAT BUILD SYSTEMATIC THINKING, ARGUMENTATION, AND ARTISTIC SKILLS
The scientific topic "Introduction and development of components of logic, argumentation, and eloquence in university educational programs" implemented under the leadership of Associate Professor Hovhannes Hovhannisyan of the Department of History, Theory and Logic of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of YSU was guaranteed funding as a result of the competition for internal scientific grants held in YSU.
According to the leader of the scientific group, the mission of the research program is the development of tools, special courses, and components that enrich professional educational programs that develop the logical, analytical, and critical thinking of university students, as well as constructive debate, argumentation, and rhetorical skills.
During the conversation with us, H. Hovhannisyan said, "To improve the process of teaching logic in specialized and non-specialized faculties, program-methodical and educational materials are being developed, and a manual of practical tasks and exercises is being prepared. Academic studies and publications of theoretical heritage, modern concepts in the field of argumentation, rhetoric, and research of debate issues are also carried out, and based on them, the package of programmatic and methodical improvement of university courses is prepared. These two components are interrelated and complement each other."
The research group is currently working on the creation of a university manual of practical logic tasks, exercises, and problems. It will be published next year. A systematic collection containing valuable parts of rhetoric (rhetoric theory) is also planned to be developed and published.
In the first year of implementation, the course "Technologies of Thinking" was developed and introduced into the educational program of the philosophy department.
Referring to the lectures held within the framework of the program, our interlocutor mentioned, "In parallel with the research activity, theoretical seminars were organized, invited professor Oleg Gabrielyan gave lectures on the topics "Philosophy's present and perspectives", "Clip thinking", "Creative thinking", "Projection of Philosophy". The course "Consciousness and artificial intelligence" is being prepared.
