INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL DEDICATED TO THE INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED MATHEMATICIAN OF ARMENIAN DESCENT EMIL ARTIN TO BE HELD AT YSU

It will be implemented by the initiative of Professor Yuri Movsisyan, President of the Armenian Mathematical Union, Honorary Head of the Chair of Algebra and Geometry at YSU.

Yuri Movsisyan told us that the international school devoted to the scientific heritage of Emil Artin should be held for the first time at YSU.

“The main purpose of this school is to introduce talented students who study mathematics Emil Artin’s scientific mathematical directions. In this field the scientist has received classical results that can be used as a basis for students’ scientific works, theses, as well as in the various applications of mathematics,” - he added.

YSU professor also mentioned that students wishing to take part in the school should be registered at YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics.

Y. Movsisyan said that the international conference dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Emil Artin will be held at YSU from May 27 to June 2, with the participation of prominent scientists from USA, Italy, France, Russia, China, Poland, Norway, Brazil, Iran , India, Canada and other countries.

According to him, such a great interest is due to the fact that Emil Artin is considered one of the classics of the 20th century field of mathematics, whose results are now actively used in computer science.

Speaking about the importance of the conference, the head of YSU Algebra and Geometry Chair mentioned that one of the goals of the conference is that specialists arriving from different countries of the world summarize the main directions in which Emil Artin was engaged and received fundamental results.

Yuri Movsisyan said that during the conference scientists will make reports. According to the speaker, one of the important goals of this international conference and the international school is to promote the creation of a favorable atmosphere for mathematics and applied mathematics in Armenia as well as motivate young professionals to engage in mathematical sciences as mathematical science is also a basis for the applied sciences.
