PROFESSOR FROM FRENCH AIX-MARSEILLE UNIVERSITY DELIVERED A LECTURE AT YSU
Today, a lecture titled "Splitting or Keeping a Paradigm? On the Example of Farsi and Tajiki" was delivered at YSU Chair of Iranian Studies by Professor, Head of the Chair of Iranian Studies of Aix-Marseille University Homa Lesan-Pezeshki.
The lecture was devoted to the comparative study of the Persian and Tajiki grammar. Both languages are derived from classical Persian and are actually considered sister languages. Although two languages are very similar and the differences on the literary level are insignificant, there are significant changes in everyday-speaking versions that have led to changes in grammar.
The Chair of Iranian Studies at YSU organized the lecture within the framework of cooperation with lecturers visiting Armenia through the Erasmus + program. Speaking to us, Vardan Voskanyan, Head of the Chair, said that within the framework of this program, the Chair cooperates with a number of European universities, including the University of Aix-Marseille.
Vardan Voskanyan noted that according to the preliminary agreement, the cooperation will include not only lectures, but also a student exchange program.
"Specifically, if the Erasmus + program allows, then the University of Aix-Marseille is going to send our students who learn Farsi for the internship, taking into account some restrictions that have European countries connected with Iran. From this point of view, our chair is not only a scientific center, but also an important hub of the Persian language study whose mission is to establish connections with European scholars of Iranian language as well as to improve their language skills in many cases. We must state that the level of Persian in Armenia is very high, which is also admitted by the Iranians."
The topic of the lecture was chosen in advance, taking into account the preferences of the lecturer and the area of his/her specialization. In addition, it was highlighted that no studies have been made in Armenia in this area.
Talking about the future work of the chair, Vardan Voskanyan said in a conversation with us that they will continue to cooperate closely with a number of European and Iranian universities: "The chair's long-range programs can be divided into two main areas: education and science. In the educational sector, we aspire to present Iranian science in all its aspects and prepare a specialist of Iranian Studies, and in the field of science we seek to maintain and develop the credit that our chair has."
"By the way, this year, in October, Yerevan will host the 8th International Conference on Iranian Linguistics, the right to hold which we have earned as a result of competition with the Vienna Academy. I would like to say that the conduction of the conference in Armenia is almost equal to the Francophone Summit," - Mr. Voskanyan said.
