BIOLOGISTS PARTICIPATED IN THE FIELD PRACTICE IN TSAGHKADZOR
About 110 first year students of YSU Faculty of Biology (Biochemistry, Biophysics and Bioinformatics as well as 2nd year students of Biology specialty) participated in field practice in TsaGhkadzor.
It should be noted that the field practice was conducted from June 26 to July 10 at the "Hamalsaran" educational and production center in Tsaghkadzor.
Karen Ghazaryan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Head of the Field Practice Department, mentioned that the purpose of the field study is to strengthen the theoretical knowledge gained: "Students apply the knowledge during internships," - he added.
According to Karen Ghazaryan, it is the first time that YSU Faculty of Biology students attend field practice in Tsaghkadzor, and in recent years it has been held in Hankavan educational-production base.
"As the living conditions of the Hankavan educational-production base were in poor condition, YSU leadership decided to hold it in Tsakhkadzor this year, the living conditions of which are very good. YSU management has taken care of all the issues this year and has provided all the necessary conditions for the students to fully enjoy their internships," - said Dean of the Faculty of Biology.
He said that during the 14-day field practice, students were divided into groups that were led by 12 lecturers from the Faculty of Biology. According to him, students have gone through field practice one week at zoology and one week at Botany subjects. In practice, students of biology study plants and mushrooms, and zoological, invertebrate and vertebrate animals.
"During the practice, students collect various types of insects, determine their species, and put traps and nets to study vertebrate animals through which various rodents and birds catch, determine the species, then re-open to nature," - he added.
Karen Ghazaryan also said that during the internship, about 30 students had the opportunity to travel to Hankavan for five days and to study the biodiversity of the area.
"I express my gratitude to YSU leadership that this year students had the opportunity to have their internship in good conditions," - Karen Ghazaryan said.
