THIS YEAR 1446 APPLICANTS WERE ADMITTED TO YSU
According to the results of the 1st and 2nd rounds of the admission to YSU for 2018-2019 academic year, 1446 applicants have been admitted to the university, 311 of whom will study within the framework of the state order and 1135 on a paid basis. Responsible secretary of YSU Admission Commission Vachagan Galstyan told about it.
According to him, last year 2545 applicants were admitted to Yerevan State University. This year, the number of students admitted to YSU has dropped by 1099 compared with previous year.
It should be noted that 1659 applicants have applied to YSU in two stages of admission to the Baccalaureate for the 2018-2019 academic year. This year the number of applicants registered at YSU has decreased by 1132 compared with the previous year.
Vachagan Galstyan informed that this year 2870 paid and 339 free places have been allocated.
He noted that the largest number of applications were in the fields of "Informatics and Applied Mathematics", "Information Security", "Law", "International Relations".
The least number of applicants this year have been for "Chemistry", "Food Safety", "Biophysics and Bioinformatics", "Geology", "Theology" and "Church Studies".
According to Vachagan Galstyan, the competition for vacancies has begun on July 15 for applicants who can apply for the specialties listed in their application. The deadline for submission of applications is July 20.
On July 25, the results of the competition announced for vacancies will also be published.
According to him, the reason for the decrease in the number of students this year is the transition to a 12-year education system, that is why the number of graduates has dropped this year compared to the previous year. Last year, we had about 20,000 graduates in the country, and this year this number has dropped two times and we have about 9600 graduates.
V. Galstyan said all applicants who received positive marks were admitted, but those admitted to free courses will not be eligible for the postponement.
