YSU PROFESSOR WAS ELECTED MEMBER OF GOVERNING BODY OF THE SILK ROAD MATHEMATICAL CENTER, BASED IN CHINA
Chairman of the Armenian Mathematical Association, Honorary Head of the Chair of Algebra and Geometry of YSU, Professor Yuri Movsisyan participated in the meeting of the management of the Silk Road Mathematical Center, founded in Beijing, the capital of China, on July 23-26.
In a conversation with us, Mr. Movsisyan noted that during the meeting two main issues were discussed: the scientific directions of the Center's activity for the next year; the question of membership of mathematical unions of different countries in the Center.
Mr. Movsisyan noted that during the meeting he delivered a report on the directions of the activities of the Armenian Mathematical Union (AMC). After the presentation of the work of the Union, AMC was elected a member of the Silk Road Mathematical Center, and YSU professor Yuri Movsisyan joined the managerial staff of the Center.
According to him, membership in the Center will enable AMC to send three students to China annually to participate in scientific schools and scientific conferences.
Mr. Movsisyan assured that within the framework of the meeting of the leaders, a conference was organized on the topical problems of algebraic geometry.
