PROFESSOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME (USA) DELIVERS A LECTURE AT YSU
The lecture entitled “Usage of exothermic processes going on in condensated environment in the synthesis of nanostructured materials” was delivered today at the Faculty of Chemistry of YSU.
The lecture was organized by the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Chemistry and delivered by the Alumnus of the Faculty, currently Professor at the University of Notre Dame (USA) Khachatur Manukyan.
During the lecture the speaker referred to the history of the University of Notre Dame. Khachatur Manukyan is engaged in studies of combustion processes. “Currently, our main studies are conducted into usage of various mechanisms in the process of combustion. In such experiments both the temperature of combustion and the ratio of interacting substances are important”, said the speaker.
The professor presented the synthesis of liquid combustion which is made via catalysts. At the end the lecturer spoke about an interesting study based on the samples from university museum, in particular it was related to old coins. “We made an interesting study with my students, told the Professor -it was found out that in the period of the Roman Empire and the Roman Republic copper coins contained different amounts of copper, by the way, the more the Roman Empire was engaged in wars the more copper was added in the coins”.
The studies of this theme are still going on and historians also participate in them. According to the speaker, an article on the results will soon be published in an authoritative journal.
