CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO 175TH ANNIVERSARY OF “BAZMAVEP” ACADEMIC JOURNAL COVERING ARMENIAN STUDIES

On this occasion, on October 19 the RA Ministry of Diaspora, the RA National Academy of Sciences and Mekhitarist Congregation organized the conference in Yerevan.

The opening of the conference was held in the RA National Academy of Sciences. The chairman of the organizational committee was the acting Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

The Rector of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan, the Dean of the Faculty of History Edik Minasyan, the head of the Chair of Armenian Language Yuri Avetisyan, the Associate Professor of the Chair of the History of Armenian Literature after Academician Hr. Tamrazyan Serzh Srapionyan and other lecturers were present at the conference.

Archbishop Ter Levon Zekiyan came up with the report entitled “Bazmavep-the patriarch and the pioneer”.

Father Vahan Ohanyan from the Mekhitarist Congregation made the report entitled “Bibliography of “Bazmavep”. Father Vahan Ohanyan was awarded with the Gold Medal by the RA Ministry of Diaspora.

The report “The historical and scientific significance of “Bazmavep” was presented by the Dean of the Faculty of History of YSU Edik Minasyan.

During the break the centuries-old drink “Mkhitarin” of Mekhitarist Congregation which is made by the Mekhitarists was served.

The conference was continued afterwards in two parts: “The historical and scientific value of “Bazmavep” and “The issues of Linguistics and Literature on “Bazmavep” pages”.

It should be noted that the conference is to be continued on October 20.

We’d like to remind that “Bazmavep” journal which has been published in San Lazzaro island in Venice is the most durable periodical in Armenian. Throughout its history it has been a platform for the most urgent and important problems of the national life. Numerous materials on Armenian Studies have been published in “Bazmavep”.
