PRESENTATION AT YSU: THE WORK BY DAVID ANHAGHT IS TRANSLATED INTO GERMAN
The presentation of David Anhaght’s (David the Invincible) work translated into German has been held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of YSU.
The author of the German translation of David Anhaght’s “Comments of Aristotle Analitica” is Ani Mkrtchyan. She studied in Russia, in Germany and her translation was published under the penname Ani Menua.
In her interview to us the translator said that she had chosen the pseudonym Menua because she often sees the separation of this name from Armenian roots and it is a special throwback to Armenian origin.
The translation was done from Grabar (Old Armenian) and Russian, the work lasted 4-5 years. Speaking about the necessity of this translation the author said that it was a priority for her to build bridges between Armenia and Germany. “I think, such bridges are best of all build in the field of philosophy”, she said.
Attaching importance to the translation of David Anhaght’s work the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of YSU Alexan Baghdasaryan spoke about the necessity to present Armenian philosophy to European researchers.
The representative of the Ministry of Culture and the faculty, students were present at the presentation event. The head of the Chair of History of Philosophy Seyran Zaqaryan, the Associate professor of the same chair Silva Petrosyan and others came up with congratulations and professional reviews.
The Professor of the Chair of History of Philosophy Hrachik Mirzoyan mentioned that his work is the least studied ones by David Anhaght. And the fact that the translator referred to this wrok is worth praising.
Translator Ani Mkrtchyan said that it is necessary to crate the anthology of Armenian philosophy as it will make it possible to present it to the world.
Writer, publicist Bakur Karapetyan, speaking about the cooperation stressed that 4 years ago a contract was signed between YSU and Panarmenian International Academy of Science within the scope of which it was determined to publish this book.
