AUDIO DUBBING OF CHINESE FILMS: UNPRECEDENTED COMPETITION AT YSU
Inter-university competition for audio dubbing of Chinese films was organized by the Center of Chinese Language and Culture of the Faculty of International Relations of YSU and Confucius Institute.
Such an event was organized in Armenia for the first time. YSU, Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bryusov, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University were represented by two groups each, Confucius Institute was represented by one group.
The director of the Center of Chinese Language and Culture of YSU Faculty of International Relations Arthur Israelyan stated that the aim of inter-university competition is to increase the interest in the Chinese language and culture and to encourage the students studying Chinese.
The representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, YSU Vice rectors Gegham Gevorgyan and Ruben Markosyan, lecturers and students of participating universities were present at the competition. In his greeting speech Vice-rector Gegham Grigoryan mentioned that the format of the competition is interesting and informative and that he greeted the fact that Chinese is becoming more and more popular in our country.
The representative of the Embassy of China Wang Feng wish good luck to all participants and expressed hope that such competitions will be continued as they promote interesting increase in the Chinese language and literature. The director of the Chinese office of Confucius Institute Yang Meihua also expressed pleasure with such an event. According to him, it is the best proof that our students have achieved significant results in their study. During the competition the students presented the audio dubbing of an extract from Chinese films which was given in advance. The professional jury assessed their knowledge of Chinese and artistic skills. The jury involved the specialists of the Chinese language of YSLU Confucius Institute, RAU and the Armenian-Chinese School of Friendship.
According to the jury, the winner is the group representing RAU, the second is YSU, and the third comes YSLU group. Besides, the organizers set an additional prize; The RAU student Inna Sargsyan and YSU student Lida Papikyan got a reward of one-day trip to YSU Tsaghkadzor educational and producing base. All the participants got certificates and presents. Mr. Israelyan assured that they are going to organize such events again. He thanked all the organizers and particularly the administration of YSU for the support and added that they are open for cooperation and would discuss any interesting proposal.
