CHINESE INVESTMENT POLICY IN SOUTH CAUCASUS: ARMENIAN-CHINESE INVESTMENT POLICY TO BE DISCUSSED
Today the SSS of the Faculty of International Relations of YSU organized another lecture within the frames of “Regional challenges” course.
The lecture was entitled “Chinese investment policy in South Caucasus” and was delivered by the president of SSS of the Faculty of International Relations, politologist Meline Petrosyan. The speaker touches upon the interest of China in South Caucasus, the directions in which China cooperated with the three countries of the region –Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to Meline Petrosyan, the level of relations between China and the three counties is different and the lowest level is actually in Armenia. China and Georgia cooperate in the sphere of foreign direct investments and trade. Georgia is the only country in South Caucasian region with which Chine signed the Free-Trade Agreement in 2017, which gave such a small country as Georgia to export goods to China with very low tax on duty. Both Georgia and Azerbaijan have serious involvement in “One Belt, One Road” project.
Touching upon the Armenian-Chinese relationship the speaker outlined that there is a great potential for cooperation expansion and from year to year the cooperation covers new fields.
