YSU STUDENTS TO TAKE PART IN TATYANA’S DAY
Today, on January 25, the branch of Moscow State University organized in Yerevan an event dedicated to Tatyana’s Day.
On January 23, 1755 the Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna signed an order on opening a university in Moscow.
Saint Tatyana’s chapel was founded in one of the old buildings of the university and the Saint was announced the Patron of all Russian students. And since the middle of the 19th century the feast has been turned from the festival of the students and teachers of Moscow University into the festival of Russian intelligentsia.
The event was held in three stages. At the beginning, “Maslennitsa” treatment was organized for the guests. The treatment was made by the recipe of Moscow State University Rector.
Then was held the inter-university game “What? Where? When?”, and the solemn awards of the best students of the invited universities was held. The event was finished with a concert. The event was organized by the Russian Science and Culture Centre in Yerevan, the Association of Graduates of Russian Higher Educational Institutions in Armenia and the representation of Moscow State University in Yerevan.
The head of the division for youth and territorial cooperation of the Russian Science and Culture Centre in Yerevan Sose Martisoryan told us that Tatyana’s Day is an annual event in Yerevan branch of Moscow State University, however it got an inter-university character as other universities of Armenia were invited to participate in it.
