When the Red Cross is put on a book, it becomes forbidden. It means that the time is not ready to accept this book, its content and its author. George Orwell’s “1984” is one of such “red-cross marked” books.
Every reader can state that after reading it he/she was searching for a “Big Brother” in each political system, trying to compare oneself with the main character and felt scared of the thought that similarities can be found.
Such feelings are certainly peculiar for a succeeded book, and the people who are highly interested and eager to know the formula of creating a good book from the author himself, can enjoy the essay “Why I write” written by George Orwell.
