YURI HOVHANNISYAN IS GOING TO DISCOVER TWO MORE ELEMENTS OF MENDELEEV’S TABLE
American “Science Magazine” published an article about the activity of Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions headed by the Academician of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research of Dubna (RF) Yuri Hovhannisyan and the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev’s periodic table. The information is provided by ‘Rusarminfo” website.
The article particularly informs that 85-year-old Yuri Hovhannisyan after whom the 118th element of Mendeleev’s table is named (Oganesson.Og), is not only a legendary person but is also standing at the threshold of a new technological revolution.
“To move forward, Flerov laboratory headed by Academician Hovhannisyan founded a new research centre total cost of which is USA 60 million-the Superheavy Element Factory (SHEF). Here Mr.Hovhannisyan and his colleagues intend to open the 119th and 120th elements”, write the publishers.
It is also mentioned that the activities aimed at the discover of the new elements start this spring.
“Science Magazine” thinks that no contemporary scientist has made such important research into nuclear physics as the Armenian scientist.
The website informed earlier that the world-famous physicist Yuri Hovhannisyan got the citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.
